Privacy Notice

Effective and last updated: August 2026

This notice explains what information CraftBuddy collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who creates or uses a CraftBuddy workspace.

1. Information We Collect

We collect two broad categories of information:

  • Account information, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk: your name, email address, and login credentials or social sign-in identifiers.
  • Business data you enter: materials, products, pricing calculations, orders, customer records, purchase orders, and any other information you or your invited team member add while using the Service.

We don't collect more than the Service needs to function, and we don't ask you for information we don't use.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide the Service - storing and displaying your workspace's data back to you and your invited team member.
  • To operate your account - authentication, sending invite and notification emails, and enforcing workspace access.
  • To maintain and improve CraftBuddy - diagnosing issues and understanding how features are used in aggregate.
  • To communicate with you - trial reminders, service updates, and responses to support requests.

We don't sell your information or your business data to third parties, and we don't use your business data to advertise to you.

2a. Anonymous Benchmarking

CraftBuddy may use aggregated business metrics, such as order volume, revenue ranges, and margin ranges, to create benchmarks for similar businesses. This setting is enabled by default, but is optional and can be turned off at any time. We do not show another business's identity, customers, products, orders, or exact figures. If you turn the setting off, we will not use future business data for benchmarking and will exclude it from future benchmark calculations where reasonably practicable.

3. Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers that help us run CraftBuddy, each acting under their own privacy commitments:

  • Clerk - authentication and account/session management.
  • Our database provider (Turso/libSQL) - stores your workspace's data.
  • Resend - delivers transactional email, such as team invites.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or as part of a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), in which case we'd aim to notify affected users in advance.

4. Data Isolation Between Businesses

CraftBuddy is multi-tenant: every business's data lives in the same underlying database but is strictly scoped to that business. Your workspace's data is never visible to another business using the Service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and business data for as long as your workspace is active. If you close your workspace, we'll delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it longer for legal or accounting reasons.

6. Your Rights

Depending on where you're located, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can review and edit most of your account and business data directly within CraftBuddy at any time; for anything else, contact us using the details below and we'll help.

7. Data Security

We rely on our providers' security practices (encryption in transit, access controls) and apply our own access restrictions - your workspace's data is only ever reachable through your authenticated session. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Cookies

CraftBuddy uses cookies required for authentication and session management (set by Clerk) and for remembering basic preferences. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

CraftBuddy is intended for business use and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to This Notice

We may update this notice from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
